More than one thing
happens at a time
and both are true,
new pale leaves
inch-worm-green
glow like neon against dark pine
a bench
with no one on it
sits lonely by the pond
warm drops of rain
quiet the leaves
beneath my steps
my heart aches
while spring peepers
fill the night in a blanket of song
It is a comfort to know,
for now at least,
I don't have to understand.
