Ethan Pond Campsite & Mount Willey (4,285 Feet)

A high ridge rises, sharply;
the south slope
is steep and rough.

"Every hike has it's low;" she says
"it has it's exhilaration,
then it's calm."

On the way back,
our footsteps follow sun crystals;
we are as quiet as blankets of moss

How small are the moments
we are not on our way
to somewhere else?

Remembering,
dusk can look
so much like dawn

a vacancy of light,
a time of wonder;
beyond thought.
