Blue Hill Mountain

On the lake, the waves,
like mini peaks,
shape evolution,
eroding in seconds and
crushing up again

"It’s funny how we think
so much about death
and not as much about
all the time before we were born."

You and I are lying on the dock
Talking like this;
Now the waves are like my breath
When I remember to notice.

The light on the tips of the crests
reminds me of sunlight,
gleaming off granite cliffs,
accenting the vastness;

just like your eyes
right before you wink at me.
